The Lightwell is driven by a reliable solar-quartz movement from Seiko. A discrete solar panel underneath the dial converts both natural and artificial light into electrical energy, so the watch is constantly charging– even indoors and in cloudy weather.
Lightwell Field Watch - Mark I
We’ve seen watch trends come and go, but one thing has remained a constant for the last fifty years: the 38mm field watch. It’s a hard-wearing totem of sorts, but one that’s about as classic an adventure partner as it gets with three hands, a brushed steel case, and a high-contrast dial.
The Lightwell Field Watch is a modern, reinvention of the iconic field watches of WWII. Powered by a Seiko movement that utilizes natural and artificial light to operate, it’s an easy choice for daily wear.
Japanese Solar Movement
No Batteries Necessary
Just one minute under the sun provides 24 hours of autonomous time-keeping power. At full charge, the movement can operate for up to 6 months without light.
Unlike conventional quartz watches, this movement does not use a silver oxide battery and will therefore never require a battery replacement.
316L Stainless Steel Case
The case of the Lightwell is a nod to the classic WWII-era field watch: a bold chamfered bezel atop a cylindrical center case with slab sides and tapered lugs that come to a smooth, flat end.
The case is made using surgical grade 316L stainless steel, chosen for its high strength and corrosion-resistance. Measuring 38mm wide, 10.15mm thick and 45mm from lug to lug, the case is compact, well-balanced, and ideal for everyday use.
100 Meter Water Resistance
We integrated a screwdown crown and caseback to achieve a 10 ATM water resistance rating. Capable of being submerged 100 meters underwater, the Lightwell is tough enough to go surfing, fishing, or snorkelling in the deep end.
Sapphire Crystal + AR Coating
A thick, flat sapphire crystal protects the dial while offering low-maintenance durability. Incredibly scratch-resistant, Sapphire is rated nine out of ten on the Mohs hardness scale, second only to diamond.
We applied several layers of anti-reflective coating to further improve clarity and light transmittance.
Swiss Luminous Markers
The Lightwell’s beveled dial layout features polished indices along the hour track.
The hands and numeric markings are coated with an eco-friendly Swiss luminescent paint that glows in low-light environments
Quick-Release Spring Bars
Our straps feature quick-release spring bars that make it easy to change straps without the a tool.
Simply pull the lever back to unhinge the pin and you can change the look, feel, and function of the watch in seconds.
Silicone Rubber Straps
Our adventure-ready, waterproof straps are custom-made using high-tensile silicone rubber. Lightweight, flexible, and extremely resilient, silicone offers the best of both worlds in terms of comfort and durability. The silicone strap comes in a matte black finish with brushed 316L stainless steel hardware.
Italian Vegetable-Tanned Leather Straps
Our straps are made using full grain vegetable-tanned leather that will wear in beautifully over time.
Although chrome-tanned leather is cheaper to and faster produce, we use vegetable-tanned leather because it uses organic tannins instead of toxic chemicals, making it the smarter and healthier choice for both the planet and craftsmen that hand make our straps.
